  Textures are the final pieces of the puzzle in the 3d CG world. Without textures it is all a grey or clay colored world, like the old black & white or sepia of early photography. One should not forget that,like photography, the computer graphics evolved from monochrome to multi colors & 2d to 3d imagery.

  As a 2d and 3d texture artist I did create my share of computer generated brick textures in photoshop. Never did my final renderings look like a real solid brick wall though! The reality is no dirt on them! Always as clean as fresh plastic. This is where my knowledge of photography started craving for my own real world textures from digitized images. I started my own collection of captures. Even today most people out there think of me as crazy when they see me shooting rocks, walls & sewer lids. It is true that a texture artist need not be a photographer but needs to know about textures of the real world.

MY collection has grown and become very large and because of this growth I have decided to share them with you, the CG community. This wanting to share has given birth to surrealtex.com.

  A lot of honest effort has been put into the creation of the surrealtex.com site. The site will be updated with crisper quality digital textures in study phase so keep visiting surrealtex.com for updates. Also feel free to share Share this site with your CG friends.
